Press Release: HinduPACT Releases Landmark Report Refuting Baseless Transnational Repression (TNR) Allegations Against India – Highlights Detrimental Impact on Hindu Diaspora

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    August 15, 2025

San Ramon, CA. American Hindus Against Defamation (AHAD), an initiative of HinduPACT, announced today the release of its comprehensive research report, “Tarnishing India, Targeting Hindus: The Global Weaponization of Transnational Narrative.” The report provides an evidence-based analysis that unequivocally refutes the widespread allegations of transnational repression (TNR) against India.

Ajay Shah, Executive Chair of HinduPACT, stated, “Our report unequivocally demonstrates that the transnational repression (TNR) narrative against India is a dangerous fabrication, unsupported by verifiable evidence and driven by ideologically motivated groups. To equate India, the world’s largest constitutional democracy, with robust judicial oversight, to authoritarian regimes notorious for extrajudicial actions, is not only analytically flawed but serves to undermine global democratic values.”

In stark contrast to the practices of authoritarian regimes like China, Russia, Iran, and Turkey, which have documented histories of assassinations, abductions, and covert coercion, India’s overseas actions are described as “legally authorized, procedurally proper, and fundamentally misrepresented” when categorized as repression. The report emphasizes that constitutional safeguards, administrative protocols, and judicial oversight mechanisms guide India’s counter-extremism measures.

The report asserts that the TNR narrative against India has been “propagated by a coalition of ideologically motivated NGOs, advocacy networks, and certain state actors”. These groups, identified as including the Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC), Hindus for Human Rights (HfHR), Sikh Coalition, and SALDEF, seek to delegitimize India’s global standing and sever the cultural and civilizational ties of the Hindu diaspora with their homeland.

Deepa Karthik, General Secretary of HinduPACT, highlighted the adverse consequences: “The weaponization of this TNR narrative has had a profound and chilling impact on Indian and Hindu diaspora communities worldwide. It fosters suspicion, fuels hate crimes and threatens to break our deep cultural and civilizational ties with our homeland. This report is an act of community self-preservation, defending the fundamental rights and identity of millions.”

The report highlights an increase in hate crimes and political marginalization experienced by the diaspora since these narratives gained traction. It lists vandalism against Hindu temples defaced with Khalistani slogans and shows a clear link between the TNR narrative and its effects on American Hindus.

HinduPACT has actively opposed California SB-509, a TNR bill. Deepti Mahajan, President of HinduPACT, emphasized that “SB-509, as written, functions like a Trojan Horse. Under the guise of community protection, it risks enabling profiling and discrimination against American Hindus, casting suspicion over our cultural and civic activities. It threatens to silence our voices in public life and discourage participation in the democratic processes that strengthen California. We urge elected officials to reject such politicized policy initiatives.”

HinduPACT urges elected representatives to adopt evidence-based policy and maintain rigorous evidentiary standards for TNR labeling, upholding legal reciprocity and avoiding politicized or selective oversight. The organization also calls for transparency in funding sources for TNR-related research and advocacy campaigns.

The report concludes that the “TNR narrative against India is a product of coordinated advocacy, ideological bias, and geopolitical strategy, rather than evidence,” and its propagation “threatens to undermine civil liberties, disrupt diaspora engagement, and erode the rights and cultural identity of Indian and Hindu communities abroad”.

Press Release: HinduPACT AHAD Exposes Rutgers Report on Hindutva as Hinduphobic; Launches Sharp Rebuttal with “Hindutva in America: A Case for Inclusion and Representation”

San Ramon, CA: In a decisive pushback against academic bias, HinduPACT’s American Hindus Against Defamation (AHAD) initiative has released a cutting-edge, AI-driven rebuttal to Rutgers University Center for Security, Race, and Rights (CSRR)’s  controversial report “Hindutva in America: An Ethnonationalist Threat to Equality and Religious Pluralism,”

AHAD’s counter-report, “Hindutva and the American Dream: A Counter-Narrative to Hindutva in America Report by Rutgers University,”  uses breakthrough AI to expose “institutionalized Hinduphobia masquerading as scholarship.”

    Technology That Sees Through Bias

The AHAD report utilized Tattwa.AI’s HinduHate Detector and Counter-Narrative Generator, which employs a model based on over 150 books, peer-reviewed studies, investigative reports, and global media archives. The system dissects sentiment, bias, narrative manipulation, fact omission, and source bias with unprecedented precision.

Ajay Shah, Founder of HinduPACT, explains: “We’ve built AI that doesn’t just detect negative words – it unmasks systematic narrative distortion. This is about defending truth, not ideology, and holding academics accountable when they cross the line into discrimination.”

    Key Findings

The analysis of the Rutgers report utilizes the term “Hindutva” or the essence of Hindu dharma in a consistently pejorative manner. The report also associates inflammatory labels such as “fascist” and “supremacist” with Hindu identity, without offering substantiated evidence for such claims. Despite its sweeping conclusions, not a single major Hindu organization was consulted to provide perspective or balance. The report is ideologically loaded, methodologically flawed, and designed to stigmatize an entire community, while conveniently omitting their positive civic, cultural, and humanitarian contributions that strengthen American society and interfaith harmony.  As a result of these patterns, the Hinduphobia Risk Score for the document reached the maximum danger level.

“This report recycles colonial-era stereotypes and applies cancel-culture tactics to erase Hindu voices from public life,” says Deepti Mahajan, President of HinduPACT.

    Stigmatizing Civic Life

AHAD analysis shows that the Rutgers report has painted ordinary Hindu community activities, temple worship, youth camps, charitable fundraising as sinister plots. Such framing is never applied to other religious communities.

Rutgers’ proposals for U.S. authorities to monitor Hindu charities highlight troubling civil rights violations. Shah said, “To cast suspicion on our community is to undermine American pluralism and First Amendment rights. Such rhetoric divides Americans when we should build unity.”

    HinduPACT Demands

    1. Transparency in authorship of all such reports.
    2. Disclosure of funding and foreign influence.
    3. U.S. Department of Justice must launch investigations into Rutgers, Columbia University, and the University of Denver for potential Title VI civil rights violations
    4. Federal receivership for programs that exclude Hindu voices.
    5. Investigations into anti-Hindu advocacy groups’ extremist links.
    6. Oversight of groups eroding U.S. pluralism.
    7. Mandatory financial compliance for activist academic centers.
    8. Fair hiring practices for Hindu scholars and their inclusion in Hindu curriculum development.

The Rutgers report reflects a growing pattern of using selective narratives to marginalize American Hindus, limit their democratic participation, and distort their contributions to the U.S.

“Religious freedom is for everyone – including Hindus,” Mahajan concludes. “We will not stand by while our community is deplatformed and defamed. This is about truth, justice, and the America we believe in – a nation where all faiths have equal dignity and voice.”

  • Press Release: U.S. and UK-based Hindu Organizations Demand Global Recognition of Islamist Terrorism Targeting Hindus and Strategic Policy Reform based on International Human Rights Law.

Press Release: U.S. and UK-based Hindu Organizations Demand Global Recognition of Islamist Terrorism Targeting Hindus and Strategic Policy Reform based on International Human Rights Law.

San Ramon, CA – In the wake of the brutal terrorist massacre of Hindu tourists in Jammu and Kashmir, India on April 22, 2025, prominent Hindu organizations based in the United States (U.S.) and the United Kingdom (UK) have issued a series of powerful open letters to global institutions including the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the U.S. State Department, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)and the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.

The letter campaign, coordinated by HinduPACT’s Hindus Advancing Human Rights (HAHRI) initiative, urges global institutions to acknowledge and confront the religious ideology that fuels Islamist terrorism against Hindus, Christians, and other non-Muslim minorities worldwide.

On that fateful April day, 26 unarmed Hindu pilgrims were ruthlessly gunned down by Islamist terrorists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Eyewitness accounts indicate that victims were forced to recite Islamic declarations of faith, produce identity documents, and even subjected to physical checks to determine if they were circumcised – a chilling tactic to identify and target Hindus and other non-Muslims. The terrorists then opened fire, murdering the identified victims in front of their families.

Rahul Sur, Executive Director of the Hindu American Human Rights Initiative (HAHRI), stated: “This was a grave violation of international human rights laws. It was not a random act of

violence—but a premeditated, religiously motivated massacre, singling out Hindus. And it is part of a global pattern that has taken countless Hindu lives across South Asia and beyond. We call upon international institutions and countries to stop enabling Islamist extremism through silence or appeasement and fulfill their obligations undertaken as signatories of human rights treaties.

Hindus will no longer be invisible victims. We are demanding institutional honesty.”

This attack is only the latest example of such religiously motivated brutality inflicted upon Hindus by Islamists: a “drip-drip genocide.” in Pakistan, ethnic cleansing in Bangladesh, as well as attacks upon them reported by the United Nations (UN) and their wipeout in Afghanistan. In 1989-90, Hindus in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir were given the option “convert, flee, or die.” Of those who fled, most have yet to return home.

The letters also point out the worldwide pattern of Islamist terrorists deliberately separating and killing non-Muslims. In Nigeria, Burkina Faso, the Philippines, Mozambique, and Kenya, Islamists have used similar tactics to isolate and kill Christians for their faith. These are not unrelated incidents, but expressions of a deeply rooted global ideological menace. Our research shows that between 1979 and May 2021, at least 48,035 Islamist terrorist attacks took place worldwide. They caused the deaths of at least 210,138 people. One hundred percent of the entities sanctioned by the Security Council, ISIL (Daesh) and Al-Ǫaida Sanctions Committee, are Islamist terrorists.

The UN Security Council considers that “terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security” and “acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever, and by whomever committed.”

This worldwide problem demands a reality-based response. The European Union (EU), concerning “the root causes of violent terrorism,” explicitly mentions “a Salafi-jihadi interpretation of Islam.” It makes clear that terrorists or potential terrorists are motivated by both political and religious factors. A UN handbook on the management of violent extremist prisoners lists the motivations to resort to violent extremist acts, which include “extreme interpretations of religious ideologies and beliefs that advocate the use of violence.”

Addressing the root causes of Islamist terrorism is not Islamophobia. The deliberate killing of non- Muslims is only one aspect of the much larger problem of Islamist terrorism haunting the world, which requires accurate terminology and policy reform. The problem can be addressed comprehensively only when it is accurately named, its root causes are established, and action is taken according to international law.

Deepti Mahajan, President of HinduPACT, emphasized the need for the international community to name and confront the ideology behind these attacks:

“It is time to abandon politically expedient euphemisms like ‘violent extremism’ and name the threat for what it is—Islamist terrorism. If the UN and global agencies genuinely care about human rights, they must recognize Hindus as victims and Islamism as a worldwide ideological threat. The massacre of Hindus in Kashmir must be the last straw. The world must stop denying the reality of Islamist terror. If the rights of Hindus are ignored today, then the rights of all non-Muslims are in danger tomorrow.

    The open letters demand that:

    • The FBI reactivates and establishes counter-extremism training programs that address the religious-political roots of Islamist terrorism.
    • The UN Human Rights and Counter Terrorism Office should organize high-level expert workshops around the world, to examine the extent to which national legislation, jurisprudence, and policies consider whether the religio-political ideology motivating Islamist terrorists arouses hatred, hostility, intense and irrational emotions of opprobrium, enmity and detestation towards non-believers (the kuffar) and whether they can be restricted under articles 18 and 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights; the term ‘Violent Extremism’ be replaced by ‘Violent Islamist Extremism’ when it occurs and the Comprehensive Convention on Terrorism pending for the last thirty years in the UN be finalized.
    • The USCIRF should determine the worldwide impact of the religio-political ideology utilized by Islamist terrorists on religious freedom and the lives of non-Muslims through the lens of international human rights standards, such as those found in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political
    • The EU should “introduce a comprehensive counter-terrorism agenda to prevent radicalization” to analyze the religio-political ideology utilized by Islamist terrorists and publish the results thereof.

Press Release : HinduPACT Launches in Austin, Texas, Unveiling Key Initiatives

    August 4, 2025

AUSTIN, TX– HinduPACT, an American Hindu organization dedicated to advocating for dharmic values and the Hindu ethos in public life, proudly announces the successful launch of its Austin, Texas chapter. The inaugural event, held recently, was met with an overwhelmingly positive reception from the wider community, marking a significant step forward in HinduPACT’s mission to foster inclusion, pluralism, and human rights.

A key highlight of the event was an informative presentation by Rahul Sur, Executive Director of HinduPACT’s Hindus Advancing Human Rights (HAHRI) initiative, a distinguished global leader in social justice reform and former Chief of the United Nations Peacekeeping Evaluation in the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) at UN Headquarters in New York.

Mr. Sur delivered a thought-provoking talk on the “drip, drip Genocide of Hindus in the last 75 years in Pakistan,” offering deep insights from his extensive UN work, including human rights.

Mr. Sur said, “The world has turned a blind eye to the killing, and rape of Hindus and the destruction of temples after Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus took charge of the government. Bangladesh’s Hindu population has plummeted from 28% in 1947 to just 7% now. This blatant violation of human rights must end immediately.”

His powerful presentation resonated deeply with attendees, shedding light on the Hindu Genocide that is often suppressed from public consciousness.

The event’s success underscores the growing need for platforms that facilitate open discussion and advocacy on issues vital to the Hindu community. HinduPACT’s launch in Austin signifies a stronger commitment to its mission, empowering individuals to participate in meaningful dialogue and help build a more inclusive and just society.

The launch event served as a pivotal platform to showcase HinduPACT’s key impactful initiatives, each created to tackle significant issues affecting the Hindu community both globally and in the United States.

    • HAHRI (Hindus Advancing Human Rights): Inspired by the Bhagavad Gita’s call for righteousness, HAHRI champions human rights worldwide. This initiative has been instrumental in raising awareness and taking action against human rights violations, including the formal complaint regarding the “drip, drip genocide” faced by minorities in Pakistan, and advocating for persecuted Hindus in regions like Bangladesh, Kashmir, Afghanistan, and Canada. HAHRI also addresses broader issues of gender equality and racial justice.
    • CHINGARI (Coalition for Hindu Girls Abducted and their Rights): CHINGARI is a crucial human rights initiative focused on shedding light on the plight of Pakistani Hindu girls who are tragically abducted, forcibly converted, and sexually abused. Through global awareness campaigns, Chingari urges international action, particularly from the United States, to combat these horrific forced conversions and abductions.
    • AHAD (American Hindus Against Defamation): Established in 1997, AHAD stands as the pioneering Hindu movement globally dedicated to combating Hinduphobia and the denigration of Hindu scriptures, deities, icons, and cultural symbols across publications, mass media, and educational materials. AHAD leverages innovative AI methods to detect and counter Hindu hatred and ensure the sanctity of Hindu heritage.
    • HinduVote: This initiative seeks to integrate dharmic values into the democratic process. HinduVote actively collaborates with temples and community organizations to promote voter registration and education. It plays a critical role in informing candidates and legislators about the Hindu perspective on policy issues, providing American Hindu voters with detailed insights, including candidate questionnaires, feedback, and analyses of key votes and funding.

Press Release: United Hindu Groups Hold Two Dozen Vigils Across US in Memory of Pahalgam Victims and Demand Justice

    Washington, DC

    April 29, 2025

    For Immediate Release

In an extraordinary demonstration of solidarity and remembrance to honor the victims of the brutal Pahalgam massacre by Pakistan-supported Islamist terrorists, the united Hindu groups, comprising thirteen organizations, organized peaceful vigils across major U.S. cities on April 26 and April 27, 2025.

Americans for Hindus (A4H), Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA), Federation of Indians and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS), Global Hindu Temple Network (GHTN), Global Hindu Heritage Foundation (GHHF), Kashmiri Overseas Association (KOA), HinduPACT, Hindu American Foundation (HAF), Hindu Mandir Empowerment Council (HMEC), Hindu Swaymasevak Sangh (HSS), HinduDvesha, The Avanti Foundation, Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA), and American Hindu Federation (AHF), Voice of Hindus, all came together in solidarity with a unified call to end global Islamist terrorism.

On April 22, 2025, twenty-five Hindu men in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India, were executed by Islamist terrorists affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. Eyewitnesses confirm that the terrorists performed a litmus test on each of the tourists to verify their religious identity by asking them to recite Kalma (Islamic prayer) and then stripped them to confirm if they were circumcised.  Upon confirmation of their Hindu identity, the innocent Hindu men were mercilessly executed in front of their families.

This heinous act of targeted religious violence is the latest in a long history of attacks on Hindus in Kashmir, including the 1990 ethnic cleansing of nearly 400,000 Kashmiri Hindus, the 2000 Amarnath massacre (32 killed), and the 2002 Qasim Nagar massacre (29 killed).

A Nationwide Cry for Justice and Recognition

Thousands of Hindu Americans gathered in rallies across the US, including the ones listed below:

    • Chicago, IL
    • Los Angeles, CA
    • Seattle, WA
    • Las Vegas, NV
    • University of California, Berkeley

More rallies are planned for the coming days. On May 1st, there will be a vigil in Washington, DC, and on Monday, May 5th, a vigil protest will take place at the Pakistan Consulate in Los Angeles, CA. The Hindu Mandir Empowerment Council (HMEC) has organized a virtual prayer meeting on May 3rd, where temples across the USA are expected to participate.

Participants lit candles, recited prayers, and observed a minute of silence for the twenty-six Hindus whom the Muslim Jihadist terrorists slaughtered. They also carried signs that read, “Justice for Pahalgam,” “Stop State-Sponsored Islamist Terror,” and “Stop Killing Hindus.”  Vigil organizers stressed that this was a matter of human rights and religious freedom, transcending regional or national politics.

Our call is simple, concluded Dr. Ajay Shah, Founder of HinduPACT: “Religious freedom must apply to Hindus too. Human dignity must include Hindu lives too. The victims of Pahalgam are not statistics; they are our brothers and sisters. We will remember and will demand justice. Pakistan-sponsored drip-drip genocide of Hindus must stop.”

“We call upon the world leaders to unitedly fight Islamist terrorism looming over humanity at large and ensure its total destruction,” said Shyam Tiwari, Chief spokesperson for VHPA, calling for decisive action.

The Islamist terror attacks have again highlighted the darkest, most visceral face of anti-Hindu hate. Pahalgam was not an isolated incident, but part of a broader pattern of religiously driven hate against Hindus, said CoHNA president Nikunj Trivedi. “We call upon leaders around the world to fight back against this rising wave of Hinduphobia.”

Suhag Shukla, Executive Director of HAF, stated, “This was a deliberate, brutal assault on innocent people whose only ‘offense’ was being Hindu. Families were hunted, religiously profiled, and murdered in cold blood, making this not just a tragedy for Indians, but a matter of deep concern to all who value religious freedom and human dignity.”

Dr. Romesh Japra, Founder and President of Americans for Hindus (A4H), brings to attention that, “Terrorism will bring down Humanity if not eradicated from the world, and all world leaders must work together to eliminate terrorism as the priority.”

“Tourism cannot whitewash the truth!” stated Uphaar Kotru, President of Kashmiri Overseas Organization. “Each attack reopens wounds we’ve never had the chance to heal. Our pain has been ignored for far too long.”

Core Demands Issued by the united Hindu community to US Legislators:

    1. Recognition of the Pahalgam massacre as terrorism motivated by religion against Hindus.
    2. Official designation of Pakistan as a “State Sponsor of Terrorism” by the United States.

The united Hindu community demanded an UN-led inquiry into systemic anti-Hindu violence in Pakistan and Bangladesh.  Furthermore, they implored the global media to acknowledge the Hindu victims of religious persecution. They demanded that the Western press cease its complicity and sanitizing of Islamist terrorism by calling the perpetrators “militants” or “rebels.”

The vigil also highlighted the historical continuity of attacks on Hindus, from the act of ethnic cleansing in Kashmir to the desecration of temples in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

    Other leader statements:

Mohinder Gulati, President of Global Hindu Temple Network America, pointed out “the failure of the international organizations and international financial institutions to enforce the Treaties, Conventions, and their policies in dealing with Pakistan-sponsored Islamist terrorism.”

Sanjeev Kak of The Avanti Foundation strongly condemned the extremely barbaric massacre of innocent tourists visiting Pahalgam by the Pakistan sponsored Jihadi terrorists.

Dr. Amit Desai, spokesperson for Voice of Hindus, said, “We are mourning the brutal killing of Hindu pilgrims in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, a shocking act of terror. We demand justice and global action against such religious violence.”

  • HAHRI Condemns Terrorist Attack on Tourists in Pahalgam, Demands Global Action Against State-Sponsored Islamic Terrorism

HAHRI Condemns Terrorist Attack on Tourists in Pahalgam, Demands Global Action Against State-Sponsored Islamic Terrorism

San Ramon, CA – Hindus Advancing Human Rights Initiative (HAHRI), an arm of HinduPACT, unequivocally condemns the brutal terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, targeted a group of unarmed civilians, killing at least 28 and injuring several others, solely because of their religious identity.

According to eyewitness accounts and preliminary reports, the attackers confirmed the victim was “not a Muslim” before executing him in cold blood. One survivor recounted in horror:

“The gunman said my husband was not a Muslim and then shot him.”

This chilling statement exposes the religious hatred that motivated the attack—an expression of the genocidal ideology that continues to plague the region.

This act of terror occurred during Vice President J.D. Vance’s diplomatic visit to India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s simultaneous engagement in Saudi Arabia. As Ajay Shah, Founder and Convenor of HinduPACT, pointed out:

The message from the terrorist state across India’s western border is clear. On behalf of American Hindus, we express our heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims.

Rahul Sur, Executive Director of HAHRI, made an urgent call to conscience:

“HAHRI unequivocally condemns the heinous, cowardly Pahalgam attack. We stand unflinchingly with the families of the victims and call upon human rights organizations to unequivocally condemn this terrorist act. The world has been warned repeatedly about this Islamic fundamentalism. It must be crushed. It is time to sanction Pakistan.”

The terrorist strike is yet another bloody reminder of Pakistan’s long-standing use of terror as an instrument of state policy. Groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen—operating with the protection and funding of Pakistan’s ISI—have systematically targeted Hindus and other minorities in the region, as thoroughly documented in security reports and terrorism compendia.

In a powerful display of international solidarity, President Donald J. Trump issued a statement:

“President Trump strongly condemned the terror attack and expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous attack. India and the United States stand together in the fight against terror.”

This latest massacre is not an isolated incident but part of a broader historical pattern of targeted violence against Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir, which includes the ethnic cleansing of nearly 400,000 Kashmiri Hindus in the 1990s. This tragedy remains underacknowledged by mainstream international media and human rights forums.

The ideological justification for these atrocities can be traced to radical interpretations of jihad that explicitly target non-Muslims as ‘kafirs. ‘ Such religiously motivated hate crimes are not only violations of human rights but also clear indicators of a genocidal intent. The world must awaken to this systemic and enduring threat.

Deepti Mahajan, Co-Convenor of HinduPACT stated:

“It is pertinent to note that HAHRI has submitted a formal complaint to the United Nations accusing Pakistan of a ‘drip, drip genocide’ of its minority Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs.”

    HAHRI calls for:

    • Immediate sanctions against Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism.
    • A formal designation of Pakistan as a State Sponsor of Terrorism by the U.S. government.
    • A United Nations-led inquiry into the persecution of Hindus and other minorities in Kashmir.
    • Global recognition of the plight of Kashmiri Hindus and other indigenous communities displaced or targeted by Islamist terror.

The families of the victims deserve more than mere words. They deserve justice. The global Hindu community demands that such crimes no longer go unnoticed, unpunished, or explained away under the guise of “regional tensions.”

HAHRI remains dedicated to advocating for the human rights and security of Hindus and other marginalized communities worldwide and urges all people of conscience to stand in solidarity against terror, intolerance, and ideological hatred.

  • Press Release – A Multi-faith, international complaint submitted to the UN accuses Pakistan of its ‘drip, drip genocide’ committed upon its minority Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs.

Press Release – A Multi-faith, international complaint submitted to the UN accuses Pakistan of its ‘drip, drip genocide’ committed upon its minority Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs.

A Multi-faith, international complaint submitted to the UN accuses Pakistan of its ‘drip, drip genocide’ committed upon its minority Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs.

    • Legally unprecedented: More than 60 Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Jews, Muslims, and Ex-Muslims from India, Pakistan, the US, the UK, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and Kenya slam Pakistan for Genocide.  The first of its kind ever.
    • Demand Accountability: They demand UN Security Council set up an international criminal tribunal to identify and prosecute all perpetrators responsible for the Genocide regardless of whether they are private individuals, public officials, or political leaders with sovereign immunity.
    • Many high-profile signatories: This includes organizations safeguarding Hindu rights, academics, prolific and high-profile writers, former officials of the UN and World Bank, a former Chief Electoral Commissioner of India, and former US officials of the State Department.

Pakistan now faces a formal complaint submitted to the Geneva-based United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) under its ‘complaints mechanism,’ which addresses consistent patterns of gross and reliably attested violations of all human rights and fundamental freedoms occurring anywhere and under any circumstances.

The extensively evidenced complaint alleges Pakistan has violated Article 2 of the Genocide Convention of 1948[1] with the Genocide being committed by every level of Pakistan’s state machinery and its fanatical citizens.  This Genocide has unfolded and continues in full view of the international community.

It argues the physical element of the Genocide is proven by the steep decline in the population of Pakistan’s Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs, which has plummeted from 23 percent in 1947 to three percent today, despite a massive increase in Pakistan’s Muslim population.

The complaint provides evidence of genocidal intent.  Specifically, UN documents and Pakistani experts establish the role of Islamic ideology in the treatment of Pakistan’s minorities.  Pakistani experts have stated the country was ‘born in hatred’ and the reason for the treatment inflicted upon its minorities was the desire to create “a purer Islamic state.” Historically, there was a deep hatred towards Hindus in the movement to create Pakistan, which is alive today.  Pakistan has grossly failed to protect minority rights as agreed between the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan in 1950.

Pakistan has illegally targeted, forcibly converted, kidnapped, and sexually exploited thousands of Hindu and Christian women and girls.  Schools teach Hindu and Christian hate and Islamic supremacism through their curriculum; fake allegations of ‘blasphemy’ have terrorized and led to the imprisonment of Christians and Hindus; their temples and churches have been attacked and desecrated; social apartheid exists by ‘reserving’ menial jobs for low-caste Hindus and Christians which Muslims refuse to perform.  Egregious discrimination is enforced even after natural disasters.  Christian cemeteries are desecrated by Pakistani citizens and subjected to forcible evictions from their properties.  UN Special Rapporteurs have jointly voiced strong concerns about Pakistan’s human rights.  The Pakistani government has also admitted that its minorities face targeted violence in the name of Islam.

The complaint requests the UNHRC to send the matter for action to the UN Security Council to set up an international tribunal that should:

    • Identify and prosecute all perpetrators responsible for the Genocide of Pakistani Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs, regardless of whether they are private individuals, public officials, or political leaders with sovereign immunity.
    • Take all appropriate and urgent steps to ensure that there is a complete cessation of the violations of the human rights of Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs.
    • To require the United Nations Human Rights (Office of the High Commissioner) and UN Women to closely support the work of the tribunal, including through field visits in Pakistan for fact-finding visits to prevent any further fraudulent and forcible conversions of Hindu, Christian, and Sikh women to Islam.
    • To instruct the Pakistani government to immediately confiscate all textbooks that teach hatred of Pakistan’s Hindu, Christian, and Sikh minorities.
    • To decide upon a mechanism for monetary compensation for the victims of Genocide to be exclusively funded by the Government of Pakistan.

Leadership: This drafting, coordination, and submission of the complaint was overseen by Mr. Rahul Sur, Executive Director, Hindus Advancing Human Rights (HAHRI), a HinduPACT initiative, and Ms. Deepti Mahajan, who runs CHINGARI fighting for the rights of Hindu women in Pakistan.

Support, pain, and outrage against Pakistan from some signatories to the complaint

Dr Phyllis Chesler, US, Legendary Feminist and prolific author.

I strongly support and deeply respect this documented and heroic complaint against Pakistan.  As we all know, violence against women has been given mere lip service at the UN over the decades.  No country has been sanctioned for their abysmal record on this issue.  But more importantly, no Muslim country has been singled out or targeted for its truly heinous record on women.  This includes femicide (honor killing), rape, incest, domestic violence, torture, and murder of women for failing any honor-based double standard.  This includes veiling, refusing to marry a first cousin, insisting on leaving a dangerously violent marriage, etc.  Deepti Mahajan has stepped into this enormous silence.  I can only hope and pray that she is heard and taken seriously and that the UN finally, finally, actually does something about women’s human rights both in Pakistan and in other Muslim countries.

    Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, India

I am a Kashmiri Pandit, belong to Kashmir, and am myself a victim of Genocide.  Having lived in an overwhelmingly Muslim-majority area and experienced the genocidal attrition unleashed by the Muslim communal movement, I can easily understand the plight of Hindus living in the Muslim State of Pakistan.  When the organs of society and the state are committed to imposing Muslim hegemony, it is very difficult for non-Muslims to withstand the attrition.  Convert or perish becomes the dictum to force the minorities to submission.

Permanently making them inferior, relentless persecution and eventually genocidal destruction becomes a fait-accompli for non-Muslims.  Hindus and other non-Muslims of Pakistan are now face to face with this fait-accompli.  Any attempt and effort to save them has to be supported and complimented.

Leslie Lebl, former US State Department Official and author

In clear, rational prose, this complaint reveals to the world the barbaric, unacceptable acts committed against minority Sikhs, Christians, and Hindus in Pakistan.  It performs a vital public service by telling a story that many people have never heard.

Sanjay Dixit, former senior Indian government official, author and YouTuber.

Pakistan was created based on the ‘two-nation’ theory, a doctrine that treats all non-Muslims as Kafirs, a pejorative which translates,  seemingly benignly, as ‘non-believers.’  This supercilious mentality makes them treat Hindus and all non-Muslims as fit objects for ‘convert, flee or die.’  Today we see a practical application of forced conversions through abductions, murders, and rapes – this is classical Genocide.

    Ari Meyer, US

Pakistan went from 23% non-Muslim in 1947 to just 3% today, and non-Muslims are under constant threat of violence and forced conversion.  By contrast, the Palestinian population in 1947 was just under 2 million; today, it’s over 5.6 million (14.8 million globally).  Given these figures alone, it is appalling and baffling that Israel is accused of “genocide” while a country with such a horrific record as Pakistan is not held to account for its extraordinary level of ethnic cleansing.  Pakistan’s blasphemy laws are often wielded to inflict further violence on non-Muslims, and these must be struck down.  I likewise insist that Pakistan’s 1971 genocidal campaign, which mainly impacted the Hindu minority (see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangladesh_genocide), needs to be addressed with full restorative justice.

    Mohinder Gulati, US

The atrocities against religious minorities in Pakistan, particularly against  Hindu, Christian, and Sikh women and girls, have been so shocking, and the indifference of international institutions so disappointing that I felt compelled to raise my voice against this barbarism and indifference.  The failure of the United Nations to raise its voice in defense of non-Muslim minorities in the world (Roma in Europe, Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh, the Coptics in Egypt, Yezidis in Iraq, and Buddhists in China) is appalling.  Even the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and International Monetary Fund have failed to comply with their own gender and social justice policies while lending to Pakistan.  The Global Hindu Temple Network, in collaboration with several human rights organizations and activists, raised this issue with all these international institutions but to no avail.  Joining as a signatory to a formal complaint with the United Nations Human Rights Council is a continuation of the fight to lend a voice to the voiceless girls and women of religious minorities in Pakistan.

    Elana Behar, US

I add my voice to recognizing and demanding an end to the discrimination, ill-treatment, and murders constituting the Genocide of ethnic minorities in Pakistan.  In the words of the Pakistani Defence Minister, “Every day, minorities are being killed.  They are not safe under the guise of Islam.  I want to address the issue of minority safety, but the opposition is blocking my efforts.  Pakistan is facing global embarrassment,” the Defence Minister said, as quoted by Dawn.  This is unacceptable in Pakistan and in all countries where minorities are being persecuted in the name of Islam.  As an American from New York City, one of the most ethnically diverse places in the world, I am appalled by the failure of systems to help different ethnic groups live together, learn from each other, and flourish together in Pakistan.  Not only is it deeply unjust and horrifying in the case of murder, but it is a missed opportunity for an exciting community, learning, and growth.  I support whatever it takes to rectify this awful situation: laws, protection, education, and anything else, beginning with the UN RECOGNIZING AND TAKING INITIATIVE ON THIS.  Thank you.

    Zahra Sandberg, US

I support the UN Complaint against Pakistan first and foremost as a person of Pakistani descent.  It horrifies me to know this is happening in my home country.  I believe it is important to stand up against evil and against those who commit these brutal acts.  We need to fight to protect the innocent victims who are being targeted directly because of their religious beliefs.

Debra Coplan, US, AHA Foundation and Clarity Coalition

The world needs to be aware of what is going on with Islamic extremism in Pakistan.  We need to stop this killing and draw attention to this hideous situation.  The world is not paying attention to Pakistan and needs to see it.

    Professor Lakshmi Bandlamudi, US

I would like to express my concern and outrage about the Genocide in Pakistan.  Every bad actor in the world clearly has had some connection with Pakistan, and the minorities in Pakistan are slaughtered or converted forcibly, resulting in a dwindling population of non-Muslims.

    Vibhuti Jha, US

The world needs to truly take cognizance of the ugly reality of how Pakistani society at every level systematically has destroyed virtually all minorities in the country.  The real tragedy is the world authorities are openly ignoring the tragedy happening in front of their naked eyes!  The brazenness of their nefarious deeds in the name of freedom is even more serious.  Rape and forcible conversion of even minor girls is a tragedy the world must not ignore.  It’s an honor to be part of this submission to the global leadership to act immediately to right the wrongs that are going on in Pakistan against a very helpless minority group terrorized by religious fanaticism.

Samir Kalra, US, Hindu American Foundation

The Hindu American Foundation is proud to support this UN complaint as an important step in seeking justice for the long-persecuted minorities of Pakistan.  The Pakistani state must face accountability for its long-standing systematic legal, social, and institutional discrimination against Hindus, Christians, and Sikhs.

Rahul Sur, US/India, Former UN official and senior police officer

As a Pakistani professor correctly states, Pakistan was born in hatred and still lives in hatred.  This has translated into an unending nightmare for its Hindu, Christian, and Sikh minorities, who have suffered from a whole-of-society genocide.  Rape, murder, destruction of temples, churches, and gurudwaras, forcible conversions, and endless humiliation has been their lot.  Their dwindling numbers alone tell their story.  This thoroughly evidenced-based complaint to the UNHRC deserves to be immediately acted upon if the UN’s oft-repeated words of ‘human rights are for all’ are to have any meaning at all.

    Captain Manjit Singh, India

After more than 75 years after its inception as a separate state, it is increasingly becoming a failed one.  Today, forcible conversions, kidnapping of women and girls, and killing of minorities under the protective blanket of blasphemy laws have become a widespread phenomenon in Pakistan.  The true rulers of Pakistan, the Army, and its fanatic Islamic stooges subject its minorities to gross violation of their human rights and even their fundamental right to live.

Geeta Sikand, VP, Communications/Community Outreach, Americans4Hindus

Americans4Hindus supported the complaint to the United Nations regarding Pakistan’s “drip, drip” Genocide of Hindus as Pakistan’s Hindu population has dwindled from 20.5 % in 1947 to 1.6% now (1998: last Govt. Census).  In 1947, Hindus comprised 20.5 percent of Pakistan’s population.  By 1998 — the last government census to classify people by religion, Hindus were only 1.6 percent of Pakistan’s population.  It has dwindled further over the past two decades.  Hindu girls are abducted when they reach puberty, forcefully converted to become Muslims, and then forced to marry Muslim men.  The Pakistani authorities look the other way.  It is a catastrophe that Pakistan’s enforced blasphemy law serves as a pretext for violence against Hindus and other religious minorities, making them vulnerable to arbitrary arrest and prosecution.

Breakthrough: AHAD Launches Groundbreaking AI Initiative to Detect Hinduphobia and Hindu Hatred

    December 16, 2024

[Sugar Grove, IL] –  American Hindus Against Defamation (AHAD), the first Hindu organization against Hindu defamation formed in 1997, announces a cutting-edge AI-driven initiative to identify and counter Hinduphobia and Hindu hatred. Leveraging advanced algorithms developed by Tattwa.ai, AHAD has unveiled a suite of transformative applications designed to empower stakeholders in academia, journalism, and advocacy to address anti-Hindu bias effectively.

    Pioneering Applications in Hinduphobia Detection

The following AI-driven tools were announced today:

    1. HinduHate Detector: This innovative tool evaluates published work using a multidimensional analysis of bias. Its proprietary algorithm combines deep learning with over 2,000 rules.
    2. Academician, Journalist, and Commentator Profiles: An expansive database profiling individuals for their documented contributions to discussions on Hinduism, Hindutva, and related issues.
    3. 360-Degree Political View: A comprehensive graphical representation of American political candidates from a Hindu perspective, providing insights into their positions, funding, and public statements.

An X (formerly Twitter) Feed Analyzer: An advanced tool to analyze social media content for Hinduphobia patterns and misinformation will soon be available.

Analysis of “We Are Savera” Reports Published

As part of its initiative, AHAD has already utilized the HinduHate Detector to publish a detailed analysis of reports by the “We Are Savera” group on the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA) and the Hindu American Foundation (HAF). This analysis shows that the authors and sponsors of the “We are Savera” report are highly biased.  The use of linguistic nuances, the sources they have referred to, and the overall sentiment of their hatred towards Hindus and mainstream Hindu advocacy organizations should not be considered credible by any serious scholar or other stakeholder.

The profiles feature intends to provide biographical information about academicians, researchers, and journalists. The biographies will provide a context for analyzing their published work.

Empowering the Fight Against Hindu defamation, Hindu Hatred, and Hinduphobia

“Since its inception in 1997, AHAD has been at the forefront of combating anti-Hindu defamation in all its forms. With these new AI tools, we are entering a new era of data-driven advocacy, equipping stakeholders with the insights needed to challenge biases and build a more informed dialogue,” said Ajay Shah, Convenor of AHAD and the President of the World Hindu Council of America (VHPA).

AHAD invites academicians, journalists, and nonprofit organizations with a proven track record of countering Hindu hatred to collaborate with us and utilize these tools.

About American Hindus Against Defamation (AHAD):

American Hindus Against Defamation (AHAD) is the first and the most prominent Hindu organization against defamation in the USA.  An initiative of World Hindu Council of America (VHPA), AHAD has been actively monitoring mass media, products, public places etc. to ensure respectful and accurate representation of Hindu dharma, culture, images and icons.  Active since 1997, hundreds of thousands of Hindus have participated in various advocacy activities led by AHAD.

HinduPACT’s HinduVote Project Congratulates Donald J. Trump on his Election as the 47th President of the United States of America

    November 13, 2024

[Sugar Grove, IL] – HinduPACT’s HinduVote Project extends congratulations to President-elect Donald J. Trump on his election as the 47th President of the United States of America. We celebrate the democratic process, reflecting people’s will and upholding our nation’s foundational principles.

We express our sincere gratitude to Vice President Kamala Harris for graciously accepting the verdict and upholding the principles of the democratic process. The commitment to a peaceful transition of power reinforces the strength of our democracy and sets a commendable example for all Americans.

As we look forward to the future, we remind President-elect Trump of his promise to take immediate action to stop the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. We ask the President-elect to preserve the First Amendment rights of Hindus by sending a firm message to radical elements and to safeguard Hindus and their places of worship within the United States and abroad. The American Hindu community remains deeply concerned about the persecution, and we urge the incoming administration to address them with urgency and diligence.

The attention of the 47th President to the American Hindu Agenda 2024 is essential to the success and well-being of our community. This agenda outlines critical matters affecting American Hindus, including:

    • Protection of Religious Freedoms: Ensuring the rights of Hindus to practice their faith freely and without fear.
    • Combating Hate Crimes: Implementing policies to prevent and respond to acts of violence and discrimination against the Hindu community.
    • International Human Rights: Advocating for Hindus facing persecution in countries like Bangladesh and supporting global human rights initiatives.
    • Fair and Merit-Based Admissions and Employment Opportunities: Advocating for admissions in educational institutions and employment opportunities to be based on merit, ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all. We support the Supreme Court’s decision in the Harvard v. Students for Fair Admissions case, emphasizing the importance of meritocracy and equal treatment under the law. We encourage the incoming administration to uphold these principles and ensure that policies reflect a commitment to merit, fairness, and equality.

We are eager to collaborate with President-elect Trump’s administration and request a meeting with his appointed officials to discuss these critical issues. We aim to create policies that reflect the values of inclusivity, justice, and mutual respect.

“Launching our new website is a milestone for Hindu voter education. It empowers our community to make informed choices and actively shape the political landscape.  The HinduVote initiative is not just about the Hindu community but about promoting fairness, transparency, and engagement for all Americans.”

“We hope that temples become hubs for community engagement, providing a space where civic participation is encouraged,” said Deepti Mahajan, Co-Convenor of HinduPACT.  She added, “By presenting a detailed, non-partisan view of candidates, we ensure that the Hindu vote is well-informed and impactful. This initiative will be pivotal in ensuring that the Hindu voices are heard and respected.”
